My beloved Janet walked into my apartment after chemo therapy, laid herself down on my sofa and I covered her with a soft beige blanket so she could rest. Now - why would a lady battling cancer choose to come and rest at my home when she was obviously failing at her battle against this insidious disease you ask? Because Janet loved life, and always wanted to be in the middle of the birth of A NEW SHOW! She was after all the quintessential "BROADWAY BABY"! Johnny and I were told by Janet to make believe she's not there as she listened to us composing our score for "LIBERACE ... I'll Be Seeing You" She was with me on this project from its inception! She was my "reader" at every reading, knew every song we were writing and managed to sing our comedy song "YELLOW CANARY" when I visited with her at Sloan Kettering after her last surgery! She was brilliant about theater, film and music... she was an accomplished singer/actor but what I will miss most about my darling Janet are her words of wisdom ... her friendship, her understanding and her love! The only words I can come up with to describe my personal grief ... She leaves a permanent imperfection in my heart ...
